Asana is not about movement or exercise, except in a preliminary and outward sense. Yoga Asana is an attempt to slow movement down to take us to a state of internal stillness for both body and mind. Slowing down the body, which is our main instrument of expression, slows down the breath and slows down the senses, emotions and mind. It gradually brings us in touch with the forces of eternity, which are also the powers of rejuvenation.
